Education Kits
Include principles of physical optics, lasers, waveguiding, fiber optic communication, bit error rate & eye diagrams, optical network anaylsis & OTDR, erbium doped fiber amplifier, WDM components, WDW systems and bragg grating
ED-Optics
Contain four modules polarisation, reflection and refraction, diffraction, interference & coherence) examine various topics in physical optics and provide a solid grounding in the fundamental optical principles that are applied in various optical systems and instruments
InquireED-Wave
Investigates the conditions under which optical waveguiding occurs in dielectric media, and then explores how these fundamental principles are applied by examining mode propagation and characterising multimode and singlemode planar waveguides
InquireBER (COM)
An extension to ED-COM & ED-WDM allows the generation and evaluation of eye diagrams and investigation of the effects of noise, attenuation and dispersion on eye diagrams and BER in LED and laser optical communication systems
InquireED-COM
An experimental characterisation of all the major components of a fibre optic communications link (i.e. LED and laser diode transmitter, the optical fibre and the receiver) and then investigates and compares the limits imposed on overall LED and laser system performance by attenuation and dispersion
InquireED-AMP
Allows full characterisation of the gain and noise performance of one of the key components in long distance optical fibre communication systems, the erbium doped fibre amplifier
InquireED-LASE
A detailed investigation of laser performance, output characteristics and dynamic response using a series of fibre ring lasers formed using an erbium doped fibre laser gain medium with feedback provided by various fused fibre couplers
InquireED-NET
It investigates the operation and characteristics of one of the key instruments used by optical communications engineers, the OTDR. The kit then examines how the OTDR is used for probing optical networks in order to characterise them as well as identify and analyse faults in these networks
InquireED-WDM Series
Contain the WDM Series is a modular range of four kits investigating, analysing and characterising Wavelength Division Multiplex (WDM) components, Dense WDM (DWDM) Systems, 1310/1550nm WDM Systems and Bragg Gratings
